It's Mental Health Awareness Week and i am going to do a very short and snappy post to get straight to the point of how OCD effects my day to day life.
Due to a recent spike in my OCD my symptoms are a lot worse than usual, and here is a list of things that my OCD currently effects.
Please note the scenario is the same, if i ignore my OCD and do these things when i am told not to, i feel something really bad will happen to me or someone close to me? Along with that will be a huge surge in symptoms of Anxiety and deep Depression so "Just ignoring it" is not easy.......OK? GO
Driving my car a standard route, if there is more than 1 route to take to my destination my OCD will often make me take the most awkward and longest, thankfully this does not involve anything dangerous OCD suffers are actually very good at risk management
When i can sit outside in the sun, lovely day today wasn't it at the time of this post? My OCD decided therefore to make this activity a issue
Eat what i want, when i want, Don't you just hate it when you crave something and you can't have it?
Play computer games what i want, when i want
Going out to see friends when i want, this can be the hardest of all due to the lack of social interaction it causes, which can make any Mental Illness a lot worse
Using social media, when I want
Going to the toilet when i want.........Yes really if i need a wee my OCD will some times make me wait, we all been in situations where we need to go but can't so you can imagine what this is like
Walking to almost anywhere in a simple motion, i will often need to go back and repeat steps or just leave my left foot hanging back to reach back and touch something that didn't feel right in my path
Touching if what i have just touched didn't feel correct
Sexual activity when i want, be that with someone or on your own
That is my current list, there are other symptoms which i am sure i have forgotten as they are rare, it's short its simple, notice how a lot of them are things i enjoy??? Why not make a list of things you enjoy then imagine not being allowed to do them?
