Day 1: Opening up, Stigma

If i eat all this pasta, something really bad is going to happen to me or my family, Now imagine trying to pluck up any courage to say that to someone who has no true understanding of OCD....

If i had played any computer game i loved yesterday, something really bad is going to happen to me or someone i love, Now imagine trying to explain that one......

Well this is a big problem i and many sufferers with Superstitious and Magical thinking OCD face everyday which makes it a VERY difficult illness to open up about.

Someone with a physical illness can explain there symptoms and it makes sense and sounds perfectly logical, even some mental illnesses make logical sense when you explain them like Depression, ADHD and certain forms of Bi Polar.

But there's no logic in Superstitious OCD and the fact that even i say that makes people say

"Well if you know it just ignore it?"

Well a Depressed person sometimes knows they have no reason to feel sad and a Bi Polar person knows there's no reason for them to have manic highs and depressive lows but they can't just ignore it can they?

It is the way there Brains are the same as it's the way someone's leg is when they have a broken leg, you can't just ignore it you have to treat it.

Thankfully OCD is treatable but it is far from being a easy process

So YES Superstitious and Magical thinking OCD makes me sound like a complete fruit loop but that's just the way my Brain is right now and with the right treatment maybe i can defeat it, the same way as it's just the way your Brain is when YOU, Yes you, Drinks too much Alcohol.

"It wasn't me, it was the drink talking" Remember that excuse

Well "It ISN'T me, it's the OCD talking"
